Periodontal Therapy

Gum disease or periodontitis can lead to heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, stroke and more.

Holistic Periodontal Treatments

Gum disease (periodontitis) has for the large part become an epidemic within the United Kingdom, with a recent study by University of London College Hospitals estimating that an astonishing 50% to 70% of the British population suffer from some form of gum disease. As bacteria develops in the mouth it forms a hard substance too tough to brush or rinse away.

Suffering from bleeding gums is the most obvious sign of gum disease. Many patients will see spots of blood in the sink while brushing their teeth. The danger of this subtle disease is that its effects are not exclusive to the mouth, as the disease develops, it begins to affect the body as a whole. Countless studies have linked gum disease (periodontitis) to heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, stroke and complications during pregnancy.

Many patients who suffer from gum disease will often struggle with halitosis (bad breath). As trapped food is broken down by the bacteria in your mouth, an unpleasant smell may be released. This can have a strong impact on a patient’s confidence. Persistent halitosis is a common sign of gum disease.

Non-toxic treatment

To tackle gum disease, our team of holistic dentists will use a variety of tools and instruments to softly and effectively remove all build up of bacteria in the teeth and gums. We will clean around the gum line, moving from tooth to tooth, removing the bacteria between the teeth. By working around the teeth we are able to remove the toxic substances and clear the gum line.

In addition to this here at Munro Hall Clinic, we specialise in calcium therapy. This therapy is used in the treatment of gum disease and has over time proved itself to be an incredibly effective method of disease risk prevention and symptom reduction. This is an adjunct to the traditional debridement and cleaning of the root surface.

Benefits of Periodontal Therapy:

  • Remove toxic plaque and tartar.
  • Remove stains from teeth.
  • Reduce halitosis (bad breath)
  • Improve confidence.
  • Reduce risk of diabetes, stroke, heart disease and more.
